The party's Secretary for Publicity and
Ideology, Mr Nape Nnauye, said here that of late there have been
complaints from some of its prominent and respected members, adding it
was set to vigorously and aggressively respond to them.
Mr Nnauye was speaking shortly after the
arrival of its presidential candidate, Dr John Magufuli, who jetted
here yesterday on his way to his home region Geita.
According to Mr Nnauye, the whole
nomination process in which CCM picked its candidate was peaceful, save
for some minor reported setbacks but overall the party was as united as
ever. "The nomination process has peacefully ended and we are here as
one.
However, there are some of us who are
not happy and are loudly airing their reservations over the whole
process. We ask them to stop complaining otherwise we will soon respond
back," he said.
Mr Nnauye did not name those he said
were complaining of the Dodoma outcome, but it is widely known he was
targeting veteran CCM member, Mr Kingunge Ngombale Mwiru, who has been
repeatedly quoted by the media expressing his dissatisfaction with the
process.
Speaking after greeting the public, Dr
Magufuli thanked Tanzanians for their prayers and support that helped
him win the race within his party, saying he was set to serve them all.
He said if elected come October, this
year, he would make a good president of all and strive hard to serve all
political parties, religions and tribes.
Dr Magufuli asked for Mwanza residents to embrace the Union, promising he will make sure Tanzania remains one and stronger.
He hinted that CCM will come out with a
good election manifesto which will address all important areas of the
economy and development.
"We have prepared an election manifesto
which is combining a lot of commitments that I will vigorously implement
and supervise and one of the area is about the welfare of petty
traders," he said, amid applaud from a section of small-scale
businessmen who welcomed him at the airport.
Dr Magufuli thanked his fellow
contestants in the presidential race within the party calling for all to
bury their differences and remain with one team.
The presidential candidate reminded the
crucial mission his party was looking forward to accomplish, saying
bringing about true development was the obligation of all Tanzanians
from all walks of life and political affiliations.
Asking for Tanzanians to keep on praying
for him, he appealed for all to believe the powers of God for enabling
his party to pick him among 42 other contestants.
